What is Prosthetics?

Prosthetics is the branch of rehabilitation medicine that deals with the design, fabrication, and fitting of artificial limbs. These devices, known as prostheses, replace missing limbs and restore function, balance, and independence.

At Prime Point Wellness Centre, we provide comprehensive prosthetic care for patients of all ages. Our approach combines clinical expertise with compassion, ensuring each patient receives a device that fits their unique anatomy, lifestyle, and goals. From initial assessment to long-term follow-up, we are committed to supporting our patients every step of the way.

Our Approach to Prosthetic Care

We believe that a prosthetic device is only the beginning of the journey. Our patient-centered approach includes:

Comprehensive assessment of your mobility goals
Custom socket design for optimal comfort
Alignment and gait training for natural movement
Ongoing rehabilitation and support
Regular follow-ups and device adjustments
Community integration and peer support

Our Prosthetic Fitting Process

Every patient receives a thorough, patient-centered journey from assessment to long-term follow-up.

01

Assessment & Goal Setting

Our prosthetist evaluates the residual limb, health status, and mobility goals. We discuss lifestyle needs, activity levels, and expectations to create a personalized plan.

02

Measurement & Socket Design

We take precise measurements and create a custom socket that fits comfortably and securely. The socket is the foundation of the prosthesis and critical for comfort and function.

03

Fabrication & Alignment

Our technicians fabricate the complete prosthesis, aligning the socket, pylon, and foot or hand components. Proper alignment ensures natural gait and efficient energy use.

04

Fitting & Gait Training

The prosthesis is fitted, adjusted, and tested. Patients receive comprehensive gait training and rehabilitation support to learn to walk, balance, and function with their new device.

05

Long-term Follow-up

We schedule regular follow-ups to monitor progress, adjust the socket as the residual limb changes, and support the patient's long-term mobility and independence.
